"Balam" is a short documentary film project that addresses the struggle of Rosanna and Ruben, a Mayan farming and ranching couple, to change the way in which the inhabitants of their community relate to the presence of jaguars in the surrounding jungle.

Ante la sobreexplotación del mar en Celestún, México, un grupo de pescadores decide implementar una iniciativa conocida como Zona de Refugio Pesquero para salvaguardar a las especies marinas dentro de un área y promover la pesca sustentable y tradicional, sin embargo, deberán enfrentarse a diversos desafíos en la comunidad y en la organización que están poniendo en riesgo la entrega de resultados de su proyecto.

Given the overexploitation of the sea in Celestún, Mexico, a group of fishermen decides to implement an initiative known as the Fishing Refuge Zone to safeguard marine species within an area and promote sustainable and traditional fishing. However, they will face diverse challenges in the community and the organization that will put the project at risk.
